Chechnya, Russia: Islamic Faith Healers and Exorcist

Chechnya Russia is a place where Islam is weaving itself into everyday life not necessarily by choice.  I will discuss that on another post.   People here are embracing Islam which is bringing back ancient superstition and practices that are both reckless and damaging.  Now already I know there are some reading this who are saying,  why not just allow it if it helps in believing in faith healing, Koranic readings for depression, exorcism, and searching for evil in dark and hidden spots.  My response, is because it is not at all helpful to the people or its society.  This way of thinking and belief in healing has been both a way to oppress people and has led to death of individuals who truly believed that God would heal their aliments.

First, people who generally believe in superstition are easily manipulated into thinking that someone has caused the evil based upon their belief, their gender, or often times an innocuous action.  It also gives great power to the manipulator in that they can point fingers at others saying they let in evil and should be punished.  This sets up a person or a group of people  to be able to control others based upon this belief in a superstition.  This is how witchcraft trials were initiated and implemented.  This type of environment is by its nature oppressive. Everyone is watching everyone for the first sign of someone straying outside the norm.  It is the path to a cage for humanity.

Second, these people play on individuals who truly need medical intervention and actual assistance in how to deal with depression or other ailments.  Often times these manipulators will convince a person to hold off getting proper care and this leads to death.  Christians who believe in faith healing also have a habit of doing just this.  Typically, the medical problem could have been easily dealt with and alleviated.  This has led to many, especially children, to suffer and die in the name of a superstition that no one can prove exists.  One has to ask why does a society want to embrace a backward ideology in this way that has been proven to bring in oppression, barbaric tactics, death, and fear.  Is this truly what mankind wants for their children.

So let’s talk about Chechnya which has opened a state-run Islamic Medical Center.  This medical center is supposed to help individuals with mental depression and other ailments.  The medical methods used are reciting verses from the koran to cure depression and assist in dealing with demonic possessions.  According to mullah Alikhan, “Evil spirits usually live in hard to access places, now they are moving to cities and villages … We have to look over our youth especially. Evil spirits as a rule target the youth just as they do the healthy.”  According to the Director of the Islamic Medical Center there have been one hundred and fifty thousand people who have come to the center for medical help.  The center provides 30 minute healing recitations from the Quran.

Here is the problem with such centers, it has nothing to do with medicine and everything to do with superstition.   Describing the facility as a medical center is at the very least misleading; however in my assessment it is criminal.  This is a road that will lead people to false hope and inaction.  Often times leading to  death and prolonged severe depression.  The people gaining from this are those who are taking advantage of others in despair and in need.  Let us hope that it doesn’t lead to numerous deaths; however, this is generally what initiates a change.  That in itself is a sad commentary for humanity.

Islam: It’s okay to Beat your Wife – Just not Excessively.

I have heard all the spin doctors on the proper way to beat a wife.  I have heard that it was meant to be with a feather, not to leave marks, as a token only movement,  and the list goes on.  However, the fact remains that it does state that you can beat your wife.  Full Stop.  You can beat your wife and there is no lightly placed in front of beat in the koran.  Muhammad hit Aisha.  However, you will hear from Muslims that Muhammad never ever raised a finger to any of his wives. However the hadith tell a different story.  Which means either a Muslim is lying or just ignorant of his faith.  I know you are getting tired of me doing this but I really would like some input on this article.  What do you think?  Is it a fair analysis?

Organized Religion: Australia has the Same Problem with Religious Institutions

I tell you organize religion has a great gimmick in getting money, hiding money and using money in ways not so humane.  Australia apparently is trying to change the game rules on those tax exemptions and non-transparent monetary books.  The US might do well to follow suit.  Here an article detailing Australia’s intent.  Here is wishing them well on this endeavor.
