I do think, this is how Torah, Psalm & Gospel being corrupted. Using knowledge with wrong intention. Thing become popular, no body stop it, then people start to change word to justify new doctrine.
I will refute 3 top hadiths:
1) Regarding garlic- Garlic is makrooh because it smell (not pleasant), it a norm for Muslim to use perfume before prayer. As garlic have unpleasant smell, we dont encourage people to near people or prayer.
2) Case of visiting people at night- A night people want to be with their family, having intercourse with wife and husband. It was impolite to visit people at night unless there are emergency business.
3) We don’t believe in charm, image can do benefit to us. So what the problem with that.
For me, it was a waste of time to refute this kind of people. Play around with verse and quotation. Unworthy opponent.
I don’t know I think there is plenty within the books that contradict itself/god/allah/prophet. I find the entire belief in the hadith to be pushing the boundaries of common sense and knowledge. When you go through a million plus hadiths to try to widdle it down to a few thousands I think you have issues with any hadith as reliable. Have you read anything of Ignaz Goldziher regarding the Hadiths?
I don’t know I think there is plenty within the books that contradict itself/god/allah/prophet.
Try seek for book under categories Tauhid/Akidah and test it.
Regarding hadith,
It was being compile in categories- there are authentic, less authentic, fake, etc. From there, more sub categories and branches. I never read Ignaz Goldziher, just know him yesterday.
Actually, I dont like to quote hadith even it have similar meaning of philosophy because some people will have “religion frenzy” especially in non-Muslim blog.
I’ll take a look under that category. I am aware of the reliability factor on strong hadith and weak hadith. I just think that leaving the one’s in that are weak or less pausible opens the door to further abuse to what may have never been intended.
Are you aware that there are men who read the bible and castrate themselves over a section within the bible? Now really do you think this is what was actually intended? I don’t think so. So every system can be abused or distorted, the key is to understand that what was intended and what is now being applied could be at polar opposite spectrums.

Garlic has many health benefits and there are other foods that also effect body odor but Muhammad did not declare them as makrooh. It can also be eaten in moderation. Sorry but not allowing people to visit one’s family at night makes no sense at all in 2012. If you can make an excuse and disobey Muhammad for one Hadith, you could disobey all of them and get lucky and become an apostate and come out of Islam. If an object with image can be a harmful omen, you might as well leave your phone at home because it contains a lot of images. Should T-shirts with images or logos also be avoided?
Since you’re a Muslim who will make any excuse for Islam, you conveniently ignored some of the really funny hadiths. What about this one? Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said “If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease.”, or this one: Narrated Abdullah (bin Mus’ud): Allah’s Apostle has cursed the lady who uses false hair. Or this one: Waqidi said: “The prophet of Allah used to say that I was among those who have little strength for intercourse. Then Allah sent me a pot with cooked meat. After I ate from it, I found strength any time I wanted to do the work.”
Why does Allah hate Wigs? Does he hate lipstick and mascara too? Would you ever dip a fly in your drink or just take it out? How about getting another drink?
I bet you would like Allah to send you a pot of divinely cooked meat when you’re having performance problems in bed later in life. If you’re the kind that hates wigs and dips flies in your coffee, Allah might just send it to you.

Interesting. I would never do it as I think the fecal matter most flies walk in has a number of diseases. Then I have a problem with one wing has a disease and one wing has a cure. I find that to be well………….lacking in fact.

No I don’t think Muslims dip flies in their drinks just to dip them. At no time do I think you are not civilized, however, I think individuals do believe in misperceptions and at time take prior generations beliefs in certain traditional ways as gospel. In other words this is how we have always done it and we are not changing even if another way might be far more benefical.
In my family, I have family members who will never have cancer cut out because they believe that air fuels cancers cells so you die faster. Now although this is not true and there is scientific evidence to support that this is not true you will never get them to believe it as that is the belief that they grew up with.
So I understand this concept of holding to certain beliefs, however it doesn’t mean that I did not challenge their belief system with every scientific material and data possible.
Hifzan, you sound like a good guy who is doing well by your family and that is all good. People have their beliefs and sometimes those belief conflict with others and that is okay. However, remember this is what the whole blogsphere is all about understanding one another and challenge beliefs and exploring the world and cyberspacing in order to meet new people. So don’t be put off by the challenge of your belief for if the belief is strong then it stands on its own, but do question as there have always been agendas even in the past on political and control agendas and often times the doctrines of religion or the inventions of certain aspects of religion aided in a person becoming powerful. In other words, seek out that which you feel fits you best that uses common sense and is good for humanity. Then remember nothing is ever truly black or white but a whole lot of gray.
Hifzan, that paper was written by 3 Muslims, in Saudi Arabia and Egypt who are not afraid to say in the paper itself that their Holy prophet talked about the Fly dipping. A paper that STARTS with saying that Muhammad was a prophet of God, AUTOMATICALLY invalidates itself.

You have no Islamic authority to declare Sahih hadith as “junk” otherwise you are committing the crime of apostasy in the eyes of thousands of Islamic scholars who respect the hadith. But you’ll ignore them because you know many of them are silly. The Quran is silly as well. For example in 4:34, it asks a man to beat his wife. They’re using the cheap labor and raw materials in Muslim countries. No “book of science” has been transferred anywhere.
