The United States and Mexico have a shared enemy and that is the drug cartel. The question is how to deal with these criminal organizations. Drug cartels use fear, intimidation, crime and fire power against the citizens of Mexico and even parts of the United States and as such they should be considered domestic terrorist. Their intent is to control areas by any means whether it is through bribes, murder, government take over and the like. All citizens who enjoy freedom and peace will be suppressed, watched, or killed if they do not adhere to their demands of extortion, rape, slavery or other equally criminal and human violations. In the wake of trying to control areas they will leave many dead. Now in the attempt of getting a handle on this situation it can be difficult to determine if the government (most such dysfunctional governments exist within South and Central America) is trustworthy and capable of handling the situation. The question is how to obtain such a government and then how to maintain any gains against the cartel once a government has been achieved.
Now debates are waging on whether governments should be increasing security or if maybe the answer lies in legalization of drugs. However as we grapple with this question we lose innocent lives by the minute in a war upon the general population by the cartel so that others can slowly kill themselves. However, like many things the answers my not be so simple as legalization as it can spawn a whole new realm of criminal activity to which is equally damaging and possibly even more prone to corruption of the government. So what is the answer? I have provided videos that address the problems. Now you be the judge and weigh in on what you believe will be beneficial and why.
